1. Architecture Overview
TypeMaster is designed strictly as an offline-first client application. We adhere to the principle of data minimization: the application processes and stores only the minimum state required to calculate speed metrics and retain UI preferences.
Core Privacy Guarantee
We do not operate backend servers, telemetry collectors, or analytics pipelines. All computational operations execute locally within your device's isolated Android sandbox.
2. Local Storage Engine
To maintain test history and customization settings across sessions, TypeMaster utilizes Android's native internal storage mechanisms (Room SQLite database and Jetpack DataStore). The specific data points recorded locally include:
Note: Raw keystroke data is evaluated in memory during active typing sessions to verify correctness and is immediately discarded. Keystrokes are never logged to disk.
3. Zero Network Traffic
TypeMaster does not request Android network runtime permissions for background data exfiltration. The application operates fully offline without internet access. Because no network transmission occurs, your personal typing habits, typing speeds, and usage frequency cannot be intercepted or monitored by external entities.
4. Third-Party Services & Advertising
In strict compliance with Google Play Developer Program Policies regarding User Data:
- We do not embed third-party advertising SDKs (e.g., Google AdMob, Meta Audience Network).
- We do not embed crash reporting or usage telemetry SDKs (e.g., Firebase Crashlytics, Sentry, Flurry).
- We do not share, sell, rent, or trade any local device records with data brokers or marketing agencies.
5. Statutory User Rights (GDPR & CCPA)
Under the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), users are granted specific statutory rights regarding personal data. TypeMaster inherently fulfills these mandates through its localized architecture:
Right to Access & Portability
All historical test metrics are immediately accessible directly inside the application's "Stats" screen. Because data exists solely on your physical hardware, you hold sole custody of the data.
Right to Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten")
You may purge all stored records at any time without administrative friction. See Section 6 below for exact execution steps.
6. Data Deletion Protocol
To comply with Google Play's prominent data deletion policy requirements, TypeMaster provides two independent methods for complete data erasure:
Method A: In-App Deletion
- Open the TypeMaster app.
- Navigate to the Settings tab via the bottom bar.
- Scroll to Data Management.
- Tap Clear All Test History and confirm.
Method B: System Storage Reset
- Open Android Settings on your device.
- Select Apps > TypeMaster.
- Tap Storage & cache.
- Select Clear storage (or Clear data).
7. Children's Privacy (COPPA)
TypeMaster is suitable for all audiences. We do not knowingly solicit or collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. Because the application operates entirely offline and contains no social communication or marketing channels, it poses zero risk of unmonitored online exposure for minors.
